The unstructured experimentation with the Adobe programs, which occurred throughout the creative process of the animation project, allowed for giant leaps in my understanding and skills for the applications. While initially unsure about what direction to take the project, I had started with workshopping different undeveloped ideas- such as having a video background while having an animation responding to the changing environment. Upon developing these half-baked ideas in their respective Adobe programs (notably in Photoshop, Lightroom, and Animate), I was able to compile most of them together into a completed project in After Effects. I was displaying the necessity to explore the world around us while it is still there. I was representing the blame for the irreversible damages we inflict on our environment as a faceless demon. At the same time, humanity during this crisis is expressed through the form of distracted drivers on a road trip and someone dancing mindlessly. Clueless to the inevitable destruction, unknowingly taking our blue and green planet for granted.
